Her father wouldn’t want her here. He’d yell and scream until she noticed he’s get his way one way or another. Zooey sighed and picked up speed as she walked through Mount Iwan to get to the lake. It was a Saturday afternoon, Joshua was with Lucy at a doctor’s appointment, so Zooey had decided to make herself a picnic lunch, grabbed some money and caught the bus. Most people wondered why she would do that when she could do something else like… swim in her pool, not an icky lake. Zooey would simply tell someone swimming in the lake was more of an adventure than anything else.
Panting lightly, Zooey stopped and set down her bag and the picnic basket. She leaned against a tree and pulled at the loose, thin fabric, midriff showing grey shirt she wore and then moved on to pull at the floral print shorts. If her father knew she was wearing this AND went to the lake she’d be grounded for a month. Reaching into her bag, Zooey pulled out a large-ish plastic bottle of water labeled ‘Smart Water’. Wasn’t all water smart? Looking thoughtfully at it for a moment she shrugged, sighing slightly as her left sleeve fell down her shoulder and took a sip of the ‘smart’ water. Finall after a few moments, a check of the phone for any missed calls or new texts and off her was again. She knew the path like the back of her hand.
Zooey clung tightly to her bag and picnic basket before sliding down the incline, muttering a slight ‘damn’ as dirt got into her shoes. At the bottom she shook her feet and continued on her path. About ten minutes later she came upon the lake. It was beautiful, breathe taking really and at that moment she could care less if her father found out about her sneaking off and about her clothes and skimpy little bikini she had bought only a week before to wear. Setting down her stuff, she started changing. She changed out of her normal clothes, peeking about every so often to make sure no one saw her and put on the plat bikini. She had to admit, for being so tiny, it was really cute.
Taking a deep breath and securing her stuff on a lone rock, Zooey got into the water. While most girls might find it gross, how very stereotypical of them, she loved it. She felt free and she loved fish, as long as they didn’t touch her of course. She swam out and flouted on her back, every now and then opening to her eyes and checking her stuff to make sure it was there and then closing them again. Yeah, this place was nice.
